### 15.5.6. Metaphors
This is the use of a word or phrase that invokes a comparison with another idea. The most commonly used metaphors come from war and sport. For instance, "taking flak", or "being on the offensive" are two common metaphors used to convey aggression and toughness. Other metaphors have different connotations - the possibilities are almost limitless. They are very useful in conveying an opinion or personal feeling in a story and bear no relationship to the facts.
