Fitting Lies Another very effective and sinister method of using deceit is when a manipulator knows in advance what the public wishes to hear. In this case the manipulator can tell unsophisticated lies which are hard to contradict and which assist in his overall strategy. Since a manipulator's statements gratify or are at least expected by the public (victims), they are rarely challenged.
