# 49. Manipulation of bias and heuristics in decision making
## 49.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species
### 49.5.38. Ludic fallacy
This is the misuse of comparisons between games and real-life situations. It is also described as "basing studies of chance on the narrow world of games and dice". A manipulator can appeal to a victim using narrow game analogies instead of real life comparisons. For instance, he says: "Well, it's just the luck of the draw", to describe one's job prospects, whereas we know that there are several ways of improving our job prospects.
