# 49. Manipulation of bias and heuristics in decision making
## 49.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species
### 49.5.53. Pro-innovation bias
This is the inclination to prefer invention/innovation, while ignoring limitations, weaknesses or risks of failure in the innovation: "It's new, therefore it's good." A manipulator can use this bias to promote a new product to a victim, despite its lack of track record or quality. This is a favourite marketing trick. Consumers are constantly enjoined to buy the latest PC or mobile phone even when the one they have is still perfectly good. Consumers will often tend to buy the new model even though it has almost no track record.
