# 52. Manipulation of Memory ## 52.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species ### 52.5.18. Levels-of-processing effect Different methods of encoding information into memory have differing levels of depth and recall. The shallower the level of consideration, the slighter the memory and vice versa: deeper intellectual consideration leaves a more profound memory. Manipulators often use deliberate trivialisation of some subjects as a means of "rapidly moving along" when it comes to an issue they prefer to be forgotten as quickly as possible. Conversely, a manipulator can also focus on issues they wish to be given undue consideration, so that it establishes a foothold in the pubic memory.
