Reminiscence Bump **"Reminiscence bump":** The recalling of more personal events from adolescence and early adulthood than personal events from later lifetime periods. Many adults look back at their childhood and early adulthood with fond memories, mostly because they have filtered out the unpleasant or negative memories. This is partly a method of psychological self-preservation. Accumulating a large amount of negative memories cause an unpleasant and de-motivating sensation and so we just filter out the unpleasant recollections and hold on to the comfortable memories.
