# 52. Manipulation of Memory
## 52.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species
### 52.5.23. Self-serving bias
In this instance we perceive ourselves to be responsible for desirable outcomes but not responsible for undesirable ones.
A manipulator will often appeal to this bias when addressing a victim or victim group. By only referring to the good actions of the victim and ignoring the bad behaviour of the victim, a manipulator can engender a favourable reaction from his victim(s). See also "Social Manipulation".
