# 23. Media-Techno manipulation ## 23.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species ### 23.5.5. Stacking the deck This is the tactic of arranging more supporters (or opponents) of a particular person, party, or position on one side of a debate than are on the other side of a debate. This may be done simply by biasing the numbers of commentators supporting one side of an argument. The technique can also be used to bias an argument by using repetition, overstatement or even misrepresentation. The manipulator sets up the situation in advance of media presence and then allows the game to unfold in front of the rolling cameras. ### 23.6.5. Avoidance of Stacking the deck This kind of media manipulation needs to be exposed and probably social media or news blogs are the best way to do this. Describe how the "deck was stacked" and keep publishing it on the internet. You won't stop it happening, but at least the manipulator knows they are being watched.
