# 25. Political / organisational tricks
## 25.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species
## 25.5.3. Decry what you do
This is a technique where politicians criticise behaviour in which they themselves are engaged, hoping to portray themselves as the victim. For example when a party accuses another political group of harassment it may well be that the denouncing party is in fact guiltier of bullying and persecution. It is a form of distraction, often used by small children when caught with their hand in the biscuit tin: "I definitely have not stolen any biscuits. But I know who has!"
