# 27. Rhetorical manipulation
## 27.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species
### 27.5.3. Attacking Approach
#### 27.5.3.2. Straw Man arguments
This is the restating of an argument in such an extreme form that it provides an easy target (or "straw man") to tear apart. For instance, one could argue that "Israel should stop building on West Bank sites". The straw man attack would be "So, you are saying that Israel has no right to be a nation." The two statements are unconnected, but the second is easier to defend than the real statement.
