# 53. Social manipulation ## 53.5. Methodology/Refinements/Sub-species ### 53.5.17. Self-serving bias This is the bias which makes us perceive ourselves responsible for desirable outcomes, but not responsible for undesirable ones. A manipulator will often appeal to this bias when addressing a victim of victim group. By only referring to the good actions of the victim whilst ignoring the bad behaviour of the victims, a manipulator can engender a favourable reaction from his victims.
